This week, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced a grant of $3.2 million to aid in the reconstruction efforts of North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District. The area was severely affected by Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight (PTC-8) on September 16, 2024. The cyclone brought over 18 inches of rain within a single day, leading to extensive flooding that caused significant damage to roads and infrastructure, including washouts and pipe blowouts.

Congressman Rouzer emphasized the importance of this funding for the recovery process. “PTC-8 caused significant damage to infrastructure across the district,” he stated. “This grant is essential to helping our communities recover and rebuild. I’m grateful to U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and the Federal Highway Administration for prioritizing the needs of Southeastern North Carolina.”
