How many companies in cities across New Hanover County received FDA citations in 2024?

There were three companies in a city associated with New Hanover County that received FDA citations as a result of three inspections conducted in the county throughout 2024, according to reports from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This is a 200% increase over the number of companies cited in the previous year.

The citations in the county include:

• Your HACCP plan does not list the food safety hazards that are reasonably likely to occur.
• Equipment used in the manufacture, processing, packing or holding of drug products is not of appropriate design to facilitate operations for its intended use.
• Written records of investigations into the failure of a batch or any of its components to meet specifications do not include the conclusions and follow-up.

All of the companies cited should take voluntary actions to correct their managing operations.

The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.
