New Hanover County approves fiscal year 2025-2026 budget with split vote

During the Agenda Review Meeting on Thursday, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. The decision was made with a 3-2 vote, where Commissioners Stephanie Walker and Rob Zapple opposed.

The new budget will be effective starting July 1. It sets the property tax rate at 30.6 cents per $100 of assessed value.
