New Hanover County Tax Administration is reissuing 15,472 Personal Property Listing Forms after a vendor packaging error led to the use of envelopes from Richmond and Chatham counties for some mailings. The county clarified that this was only a packaging mistake and that the tax listing information inside each envelope remains correct. No personal data was compromised.
Corrected forms are being mailed out promptly to all affected property owners, along with an explanatory letter. Residents are advised to discard the original mailing and use the new materials provided in the corrected packet when submitting their listings.
The county has also notified Richmond and Chatham counties about the issue and given instructions on how to handle any misdirected mail.
