New Hanover County is inviting its residents to engage more actively in local governance by applying for roles on various boards and committees. The county’s Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications from those interested in filling positions across a wide range of committees.

The committees seeking new members include the New Hanover County Adult Home Care Community Advisory Committee, Board of Mechanical Examiners, Commission for Women, and Commission on African American History, Heritage, and Culture, among others. Each committee offers categories of interest such as “Class I Journeyman Mechanic,” “Faith Community,” and “Education,” providing a broad spectrum of involvement.

According to the release, “Applicants must reside in New Hanover County.” Application forms can be collected from the Board of Commissioners Office at the New Hanover County Government Center, downloaded from the county’s website, or requested by phone.

The deadline for submitting applications is May 2, 2025, which allows enough time for consideration before the meeting scheduled on May 19, 2025.

For further details or to access the application, interested individuals can visit the county’s boards and committees web page or contact the office directly via phone.
