When I joined Ivanka Trump for a fireside chat in Wilmington this week, we made a special effort to highlight the North Carolina state motto: “to be rather than to seem.” These aren’t just words for North Carolinians to live by - they are the core of President Trump’s optimistic vision for America.
Joe Biden spent forty-seven years in Washington “seeming” rather than “being.” He attempts to portray himself as “Uncle Joe”- a moderate and a friend to blue collar workers. His record, though, demonstrates a different reality.
Joe Biden spent his entire political career selling out American workers, shipping jobs to China while his family enriched themselves. Currently, he is proposing a $4 trillion tax hike and his version of the radical Green New Deal, both of which would devastate North Carolina families as they begin to recover from the coronavirus sent to us from China. He wants to legalize late-term abortion, undermine our law enforcement officers, and reinstate the Obama administration’s attacks on religious liberty.
In short, Joe Biden is beholden to the radical left, and he is certainly out of touch with the values and priorities of North Carolina voters.
Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump and the entire Trump administration are dedicated to uplifting Americans of every background. That’s why President Trump signed the First Step Act, reversing Joe Biden’s mass incarceration policies. That’s why President Trump has been tough on China, igniting an American manufacturing renaissance. That’s why President Trump took bold action to implement the Paycheck Protection Program, saving millions of American businesses and jobs.
President Trump and Ivanka Trump are people of action, not typical politicians who focus on fake gestures and false promises. I am confident that North Carolinians will support President Trump this year, because they are sick of lying politicians like Joe Biden and want a proactive leader in the White House: President Donald J. Trump.
