New Hanover County Schools issued the following announcement on July 18.
On Tuesday, July 13, 2021, the Board of Education voted to recess its July Regular Board Meeting and to reconvene on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. The July Regular Board Meeting will reconvene at 5:30 PM, and the Board will resume the meeting remotely. The general public may view the meeting on NHCS-TV Youtube.
All speakers who had previously signed up to speak at the July Regular Board Meeting Call to the Audience, but who were not reached before the meeting recessed, will have the opportunity to pre-record comments to be played when the meeting reconvenes remotely.
The Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, beginning at 1:00 PM at the Board of Education Center, located at 1805 South 13th Street. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a Closed Session pursuant to NCGS 143-318.11 (a)(1), (3) and (6) to consider personnel matters and to maintain the confidentiality of personnel records under N.C.G.S. 115C-319 and -321, and to consult with the board’s attorney to preserve attorney-client privileged information. This will be the only item on the agenda, and the Board may take action related to this item.
