City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

The Wilmington City Council will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Wilmington City Hall. 

Items of interest include:

  • A three-year contract with Evidence IQ for the purchase of Ballistics IQ equipment and software for gunfire discharge identification. If approved, this will allow Ballistic IQ to provide Gun Crime Task Force members timely information to assist in solving crimes.
  • Approval of the new Land Development Code. This consists of an ordinance to adopt the recommended replacement of the city’s land development code and an ordinance to update the city’s zoning map to reflect the new code. The changes, based upon feedback received from citizens during the Comprehensive Plan process, were approved by the Planning Commission on August after Public Hearings in front of the Planning Commission and City Council were held on June 24 and July 23.   • A resolution and companion ordinance that allocates $139,600 for a contract with Davey Resource group, Inc. for the development of a Comprehensive Urban Forestry Master Plan.
  • A resolution Affirming City Policy of Anti-Discrimination in the Awarding of City Contracts and a companion ordinance.
  • A resolution to establish a Clean Energy Advisory committee, a recommendation of the Ad Hoc Clean Energy Policy Task Force.
  • A resolution that supports the signing of the US Conference of Mayors - Mayors for 100% Clean Energy Letter of Endorsement.
