Tiffany Tucker Named Seahawks' Deputy Athletic Director

University of North Carolina, Wilmington issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.

Tiffany D. Tucker, who has served as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at UNCW since January of 2019, has been named Deputy Athletic Director, Director of Athletics Jimmy Bass announced today.

“Tiffany is a superstar in college athletics,” said Bass. “She’s a wonderful human being who brought an unmatched work ethic to UNCW. She is well-respected by Seahawk student-athletes, coaches and staff as well as her peers throughout campus for her love of this great university. Her work on the CAA level has made our league better.”  

A former basketball standout at North Carolina and collegiate women’s basketball coach, Tucker has established a legacy as a seasoned athletic administrator with extensive experience in the college athletics realm. 

“I would like to thank Chancellor (Jose) Sartarelli and Jimmy Bass for their leadership and commitment to UNCW Athletics,” said Tucker. “I am humbled by the opportunity to continue to impact our students, coaches and staff, we make a great team! I am fortunate to be a part of something so special and work with such passionate people.” 

A native of Petersburg, Va., Tucker joined the Seahawk staff after serving as Deputy Director of Athletics for Internal Operations and Senior Woman Administrator at S.C. State. She previously gained athletic administration experience at Elizabeth City State, Hampton and S.C. State and coached basketball at Allegheny (Pa.) College, Radford, Francis Marion and Claflin.

Since her arrival in Wilmington, Tucker has played a key role in the overall operations of the department during challenging times. She has led important searches for the program’s Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Head Volleyball Coach, Director of Sports Performance and Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations.
