City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.
Work to refurbish the city’s Conlon Pier, located behind the Coastline Inn, is now complete and open to the public.
The Engineering Department oversaw this project through design and construction. The old pier was part of the former Almont Shipping Terminal and had become severely corroded. The Conlon Pier has now been reconstructed with a pile-supported timber deck. New amenities include electrical outlets and a stainless-steel fish cleaning station
Conlon Pier is a popular spot for catching views of the river and is the only spot along the Riverwalk where fishing is allowed.
