City Council Meeting, May 3

Meeting

The Wilmington City Council will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3 inside Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 102 North Third Street.

Items of interest include:

  • A proclamation naming May 2022 as Bicycle Awareness Month
  • The initial presentation of the recommended budget for fiscal year 2022-2023. (A public hearing on the budget will be held on May 17, a work session will be held on May 27, and Council votes will occur on June 7 and June 21). The fiscal year begins on July 1.
  • An ordinance appropriating $511,484 for the refund of short-term lodging registrations, to include accrued interest. The North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled that a portion of the city’s ordinance on short-term lodging violated state law. While the court only considered whole-house lodging, the city interprets the holding to apply to all short-term lodging registrations required by the LDC and will refund all such fees.
