The BCC Small Business Center celebrated Global Entrepreneur Week in a big way. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, with help from a grant from NC IDEA, it assembled a powerhouse of entrepreneurs, all women, as part of its first-ever Womenpreneur Empowerment Summit.
Held at the Virginia Williamson Event Center, the sold-out Summit featured more than 15 speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops, breakout sessions, networking, and much more. Attendees were business owners representing a whole host of industries, including jewelry sales, holistic consultants, filmmakers, bankers, trainers, authors, and retail, to name just a few.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our community, yet women made up 49% of businesses started last year,” said April Scott, Director of the BCC Small Business Center. “The summit’s focus was bringing female entrepreneurs together in a safe space to share struggles and strengths and to empower, educate and celebrate. The outpouring of attendees’ appreciation has proven that this event provided more than we could have expected. I left feeling more empowered and grateful to be in a position that allows me to help others reach their dreams.”
