New Hanover County launches modern, customer-friendly website

Finding information online about the programs, departments and services within New Hanover County Government just got easier.

On Wednesday, the county officially launched its newly redesigned website at NHCgov.com. This mobile-friendly platform has been built to make the online experience seamless on any device, helping customers and residents find what they need as simply and quickly as possible, and includes enhanced accessibility features for individuals with visual impairments and those with language translation needs.

“Technology is rapidly evolving and while the county’s online presence has been serviceable the last few years it has not always been the easiest to use or the most accessible,” said Chief Communications Officer Jessica Loeper. “When we started talking about redesigning our website, we wanted to make sure it provided anyone who visited with the answers they were looking for in as few clicks as possible and that it would be accessible to everyone on any device. Our dedicated team has been tirelessly working to bring that vision to fruition, and we’re excited to see that hard work go live for public use.”

Visitors to NHCgov.com will be able to find information about New Hanover County’s various departments, including event calendars, contact information and portals to make payments or submit documentation. Designed and built in collaboration with CivicPlus, a national leader in local government and public service works websites, the new site is ADA compliant, with accessibility for the visually impaired as well as translation capabilities for non-English speakers. It also includes a chat bot to help customers interact with the site and find the information they need.

“One of the mantras we work by here in New Hanover County is that everything we do is done with the customer at the forefront – this new website is the perfect example of that,” said County Manager Chris Coudriet. “We felt like the county’s online experience should meet the customer where they are with the right technology and capabilities, making sure they receive the information and assistance they need when they need it. This new site helps us ensure that is happening, and it reinforces our commitment to be effective and efficient in all that we do.”

While there are plenty of new features on the digital platform, users who have not already signed up for news alerts from New Hanover County Government, as well as updates from specific county departments, can do so by visiting “How Do I…” in the menu bar on top of the homepage or by clicking here. Additionally, the latest information is also available on social media at Facebook and Twitter.
