From  March 10, 2023 post.

Earlier this week, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit held their annual training for volunteers who assist the specialized unit day to day. The training was held in Ocean Isle Beach and consisted of man-overboard drills, disabled vessel assistance, and proper boarding procedures. BCSO Marine Patrol Deputies and seasoned volunteers facilitated the training.

BCSO Marine Patrol ensures the safety and security of all Brunswick County waterways, including 60 miles of coastline, the Cape Fear River, and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).  BCSO Marine Patrol Volunteers play a huge part in keeping boaters and coastal residents safe. Making sure these volunteers are properly trained is critical.

We are incredibly grateful to our Marine Patrol Volunteers, as well as all the BCSO Volunteers who continue to give their time and talents the BCSO Sheriff's Office and community. We couldn't do it without them!
