Washington, D.C. - Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) delivered a passionate speech on the Senate floor today, urging the government of Qatar to put pressure on Hamas leaders in Doha to release all remaining hostages, including North Carolina native Keith Siegel. In his address, Senator Budd also called for the extradition of Hamas leadership to the United States to face justice for their involvement in the killing and kidnapping of Americans.

Senator Budd expressed his gratitude for the release of some hostages but emphasized the importance of not forgetting those who are still being held captive. He specifically mentioned Keith Siegel, a fellow North Carolinian, and voiced his concern for his well-being.

Highlighting the importance of choosing sides in the battle against terrorism, Senator Budd turned his attention to the State of Qatar. He pointed out that Qatar hosts Hamas' "political office" and its leaders, who watched and celebrated the October 7th attack from the safety of Doha. Senator Budd called for honesty between the United States and Qatar, stressing the need for Qatar to pressure the Hamas leaders residing in Doha to release the hostages immediately and unconditionally.

During his speech, Senator Budd revealed that he had met with the Qatari ambassador earlier in the month to convey his message directly. He admonished Qatar for allowing Hamas leaders to use their hospitality to prolong the war and the hostage crisis, while Palestinians in Gaza suffer the consequences. He also criticized the meetings between Hamas leaders and Iran's foreign minister, as well as their visit to Moscow, stating that these actions are inconsistent with what the United States has asked of Qatar.

Senator Budd called on Qatar to reevaluate its pro-Hamas policy and to understand the liability it incurs by supporting such actions. He emphasized that this issue is personal for Americans, as he has met with the families of hostages and witnessed their pain and uncertainty. He urged Qatar to take immediate action, stating, "Not one more day."

In his concluding remarks, Senator Budd advocated for the extradition of Hamas leaders to the United States to face justice for their acts of terrorism. He expressed his hope that Qatar would be a partner in ensuring that Hamas and its leaders are held accountable for their despicable actions.

Senator Budd's speech serves as a passionate plea for Qatar to use its influence to secure the release of all hostages, including Keith Siegel. The Senator's call for the extradition of Hamas leaders to the United States reflects his commitment to seeking justice for the American citizens who have been victims of terrorism. It remains to be seen how Qatar will respond to this appeal, but Senator Budd's words have undoubtedly brought attention to the urgent need for action.
