Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) has called on President Biden and Senate Democrats to prioritize border security funding and policy changes in the proposed national security supplemental spending package. Budd emphasized the importance of protecting America's own borders before assisting other nations in their border protection efforts. He stated, "The biggest threat to our national security right now is the wide open southern border."

Budd expressed concern over the current border crisis and urged immediate action, stating, "This crisis must be dealt with, and dealt with now." He highlighted the offer made by Senate Republicans to the Biden White House, proposing the inclusion of proven border policies in the House-passed H.R. 2 to the national security spending package. Budd stated that such inclusion would garner their support and provide a clear pathway to address the border crisis.

However, Budd criticized the Biden administration for prioritizing politics over addressing the border crisis. He stated, "But so far, this White House is more interested in playing politics and continuing to ignore the border crisis altogether."

Budd emphasized the importance of addressing the border crisis for the sake of national security. He underlined the alarming statistics, stating, "Under President Biden, over eight million illegal immigrants have crossed the border. Under President Biden, 279 individuals on the terrorist watch list have tried to illegally enter our nation. Under President Biden, nearly 50,000 pounds of fentanyl has been seized at the border – That’s enough to kill every man, woman, and child in the United States."

The senator highlighted the urgency of the situation, calling for President Biden to change course and collaborate with Republicans to solve the border crisis. Budd reiterated, "We know what to do. All we need is a president who takes this seriously and fulfills his oath to protect and defend this country."

In his speech, Budd also highlighted the concerns raised by border patrol agents and sheriffs from North Carolina's counties. He emphasized the need for policy changes that would empower border patrol agents to effectively combat illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and crime. Budd stated, "Every single county in North Carolina is now a border county because of Joe Biden’s policies."

In summary, Senator Ted Budd has urged President Biden and Senate Democrats to prioritize border security funding and policy changes in the national security supplemental spending package. He highlighted the urgent need to address the border crisis for the sake of national security and emphasized the offer made by Senate Republicans to support the inclusion of proven border policies. Budd called for President Biden to change course and collaborate with Republicans to effectively protect and defend the country's borders.
