WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) has announced Krish Mishra, a student at Hoggard High School in Wilmington, as the recipient of the Congressional Award Bronze Medal for North Carolina’s Seventh District.
To earn the Bronze Medal, Mishra completed 200 hours of service over seven months. This included 100 hours in public volunteer service, 50 hours in personal development, and 50 hours in physical fitness. Additionally, he undertook a two-day expedition.
Mishra's volunteer efforts were concentrated at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Children's Hospital where he served as a volunteer and lobby ambassador. He also participated as a volunteer during events such as the Healthy Kids Running Series and Turtle Trots. In his personal development pursuits, he learned to read, write, and speak Hindi while also playing tennis weekly. For his expedition requirement, Mishra planned a trip to New York City with family to watch a US Open tennis match and visit various historic landmarks.
"It was my pleasure to award Krish Mishra with the Congressional Award Bronze Medal for his achievements in community service, personal development, physical fitness, and leadership," said Congressman Rouzer. "Earning this award requires tremendous determination, and I'm proud of Krish for demonstrating a strong commitment to achieving personal goals while bettering our communities in Southeastern North Carolina. Congratulations!"
The Congressional Award was established by Congress in 1979 to recognize initiative, service, and achievement among young people. To achieve a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Congressional Award Certificate or Medal, participants set and achieve challenging goals in four areas: voluntary public service, personal development, physical fitness, and expedition/exploration.
