WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) has announced Morgan Ward, a student at South View High School in Hope Mills, as the winner of North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District Art Competition.
Ward’s artwork, entitled “Livelihood,” will be displayed for one year in the halls of the U.S. Capitol alongside other winning entries from congressional districts across the country.
"I'm honored to congratulate Morgan Ward of South View High School as this year's well-deserved winner of North Carolina's Seventh Congressional District Art Competition," said Congressman Rouzer. "Morgan's vibrant artwork is a great representation of her talent and will surely catch the eye of every visitor, staffer, and Member of Congress as they pass by it in the U.S. Capitol every day. Every year, I am reminded of the impressive creativity throughout our district, and I thank each student who participated in this year's competition."
Ward will be invited to Washington, DC this summer to view her artwork, connect with other winners from across the country, and participate in a celebratory reception honoring this achievement.
Each spring since 1982, a nationwide high school art competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students (9-12th grade) residing in North Carolina's Seventh District. The winner was selected by a panel of local judges.
