Today in Advance, North Carolina, Senator Ted Budd presented service medals to the families of two deceased veterans from the state. The families reside in Kernersville and Graham.
Senator Budd expressed his sentiments regarding the event: “The men and women of our Armed Forces are the best of America and served with valor and distinction. It was my honor to help their families receive the overdue recognition that they deserve for their meritorious service to our great nation.”
Percy Warren Jr., who enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1939, fought in World War II and served for over 22 years. His family received several medals, including the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal & Clasp Bronze 4 Loops, American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal & Bronze Star Attachment & Arrowhead, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal & Germany Clasp, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Badge & Carbine Bar & Rifle Bar, Parachutist Badge – Senior, Presidential Unit Citation, Belgian Fourragere, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, Glider Badge & Bronze Star Attachment & Arrowhead.
Linwood Barrett enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and served from October 1969 to July 1973 during the Vietnam War. His family received awards such as the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal & Bronze Star Attachment, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon w/ Device, Sharpshooter Badge & Pistol Bar & Rifle Bar, and Parachutist Badge.
