Senator Ted Budd of North Carolina has joined as a co-sponsor for a Constitutional Amendment in the 119th Congress, aimed at setting term limits for members of Congress. The proposed amendment would restrict House representatives to three terms and Senators to two terms.
The initiative was first introduced by Senator Ted Cruz from Texas and Representative Ralph Norman from South Carolina.
In addition to his legislative efforts, Senator Budd was honored with an award from U.S. Term Limits, an organization that champions term limits across various levels of government.
Senator Budd expressed his views on the matter, stating: “America’s founders always intended for our legislature to be made up of everyday citizens who temporarily serve in public office and then return home to their communities. Establishing term limits through a Constitutional amendment would permanently break the cycle of career politicians and bring new voices to Washington with real-world experience from all walks of American life. Term limits will force politicians to think less about their next election and more about the next generation.”
