Residents of New Hanover County, North Carolina, have an opportunity to learn about their local government through the Discover NHC event scheduled for March 15. This educational event aims to provide insights into the various departments within the county government and their roles in serving the community.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Northeast Regional Library located at 1241 Military Cutoff Road. It will feature presentations from county departments and leadership, offering information on core services and programs available to residents. Departments such as 911, Emergency Management, Cape Fear Museum, Veteran Services, Parks and Gardens, Tax, Building Safety, Finance, and the Senior Resource will participate.
Intergovernmental Affairs Manager Tim Buckland emphasized the complexity of government operations: “Government can be complex, especially with the wide variety of services New Hanover County oversees. We want our citizens to have an understanding of what we do and how we serve them each day. This event is designed to provide insight and allow for engagement to get better insight into county government.”
Interested participants must register by Monday, March 10. Registration is open to individuals aged 18 or older who reside in New Hanover County.
