New Hanover County is inviting residents to apply for positions on various boards and committees. This initiative by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners aims to involve citizens in county governance.

Positions are available on several boards, including the New Hanover County Adult Home Care Community Advisory Committee, Board of Mechanical Examiners with categories such as Class I, II, and III Journeyman Mechanic, and NC Registered Mechanical Engineer. Other opportunities include the Commission for Women, Commission on African American History, Heritage, and Culture in the Faith Community category, Cooperative Extension Advisory Council, Hispanic/Latino Commission (en Español), Juvenile Crime Prevention Council in the Business Community category, Non-County Agency Funding Committee focusing on Education (pre-k through 12), Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee, Plumbing Board of Examiners for Journeyman Plumber and Master Plumber roles, Tourism Development Authority for Vacation Rental Properties (100+) Owner Manager category, Southeastern Economic Development Commission, and The Healing Place of New Hanover County, Inc. Board of Directors.

Applicants must be residents of New Hanover County. Applications can be obtained at the Board of Commissioners Office located at the New Hanover County Government Center at 230 Government Center Drive. They can also call 910-798-7149 or visit the county’s boards and committees web page at https://nhcgov.com/188/Boards-Committees. The deadline for applications is April 4, 2025. These will be reviewed by the Board during their meeting on April 21, 2025.
