Staff from New Hanover County's Planning and Land Use Department are organizing a series of pop-up events to inform residents about the ongoing update to the county's Comprehensive Plan, known as Destination 2050. These events will be held at various locations throughout the community, providing an opportunity for residents to learn about the plan and offer feedback.

Rebekah Roth, Planning and Land Use Director, emphasized the importance of public involvement in shaping the future development of unincorporated areas within the county. "The Comprehensive Plan is the guiding document for the county's long-term vision and goals related to land use, growth and development in the unincorporated areas of the county," she stated. Roth explained that public input is crucial in integrating community needs with infrastructure, environmental features, housing, economic development, and other data.

The scheduled events include:

- March 29 at Ogden Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- April 5 at Northern Regional Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- April 5 during Azalea Festival in Downtown Wilmington from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- April 12 at River Road Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

- April 26 at Long Leaf Park from noon to 6 p.m.

- May 3 at Veterans Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents can also provide their feedback through surveys available until April 30. These surveys focus on quality of place aspects such as parks, recreational activities, facilities, and amenities available in New Hanover County.
