The University of North Carolina at Wilmington announced on April 2 that it will co-host an all-day jamboree honoring veterans in southeastern North Carolina. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, and will take place at the Veterans Hall Quad from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Office of Military Affairs is partnering with the World War II Wilmington Home Front Heritage Coalition to organize this event as part of America250, which marks the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“UNC Wilmington is honored to co-host the America 250 Veterans Jamboree, a signature moment in our nation’s commemoration of 250 years of service and sacrifice. Founded in 1947 as a GI Bill school, UNCW’s commitment to military‑affiliated students is not a recent initiative; it is part of who we are. Supporting those who have served is in our DNA,” said Bill Kawczynski, director of Military Affairs. “Veterans Hall stands as a testament to that legacy, and this event reflects the university’s enduring dedication to veterans, service members and their families. As we welcome the community to campus, we are proud to honor all who have worn our nation’s uniform and to express our deep gratitude for their contributions to our freedom.”

More than two dozen veteran service organizations and military units will be present at tables during the event. Attendees can expect live music by the Schoolboys Band, appearances by VIP guests, entertainment options, and food trucks throughout the day.

For further information about the jamboree or details about participation, Director of Military Affairs Bill Kawczynski can be contacted at kawczynskib@uncw.edu or by phone at 910.962.2760.
