In late October, the completion of a $3 million Echo Farms Park renovation project was finally celebrated with a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting, New Hanover County said in a release.
Julia Olson-Boseman, chairwoman of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, said in the release that the county and Wilmington staff were dedicated to their work on the park.
"I am grateful to my fellow Commissioners and the City Council who came together two years ago to ensure we could have a safe, inviting, accessible community park and green space for every single person to be able to enjoy right here at Echo Farms," Olson-Boseman said in the release.
The park's upgrades include resurfacing its five clay tennis courts and new LED tennis lighting, a new liner and added accessibility to the swimming pool, a tennis and pool clubhouse and a 0.7-mile asphalt trail, the release said.
"Open space and parks are something we know that our residents want and deserve," Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo said in the release.
