City of Wilmington issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.
The Wilmington City Council will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilmington City Hall.
Items of interest include:
- Presentations on:
- A resolution authorizing the purchase of an aquatic mower. Due to significant invasive weed infestations in local waters such as Burnt Mill Creek, Greenfield Lake and several smaller stormwater retention ponds, stormwater services has identified the need to increase the city’s capacity to remove aquatic weeds. This $172,149 purchase is for a specialized piece of equipment that will allow for efficient, fast, and effective plant removal from our waters.
- A resolution to withdraw a previous RFP (Request for Proposals) to redevelop the old WAVE maintenance facility at 1110 Castle Street and to direct staff to develop a new RFP.
- An ordinance appropriating $100,000 of MSD reserve funds to the Public Services Dept for the installation of porous pavement around the base of 134 sidewalk trees in the MSD. This method allows for a smoother walking surface, improves aesthetics and allows the tree roots to gather rainwater.
