Brunswick County Health Services Now Offering Second Boosters of Covid-19 Vaccines to Eligible Community Members

Brunswick County Health Services is now offering second boosters of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible community members beginning today, Friday, April 1.

The following individuals are now eligible for second boosters, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS):

  • You are 50 or older and got your first booster shot at least FOUR months ago, or
  • You are 12 or older and have a compromised immune system and got your first booster at least FOUR months ago, or
  • You received a total of two shots of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least four months ago
Getting a second booster may be especially important for people over the age of 65 and those older than 50 with underlying health conditions that put them at high risk of severe disease.

Eligible community members can book an appointments for their second booster at our main health clinic in Bolivia either online or through the Public Health Call Line:

  • Schedule online here
  • Call the Public Health Call Line at 910.253.2339 (Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays)
Brunswick County Health Services is also holding two pop-up clinics at Town Creek Park in Winnabow Monday, April 4 and Monday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more and check for future pop-up clinics at brunswickcountync.gov/covid19clinics.

COVID-19 vaccines are free to everyone regardless of whether they have insurance. Insurance is not required, but you are encouraged to bring your ID and insurance cards, if available.

Brunswick County Health Services offers the following vaccines for the community:

  • First and second doses for everyone aged 5 and up*
  • Third additional doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna (mRNA) vaccines for the immunocompromised
  • First booster vaccines (eligible for everyone aged 12 and up)*
  • Second booster vaccines (eligible for adults aged 50 and up, people who received Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 for their first shot and first booster, and people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised)
Health Services will have all three vaccine types—Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and J&J—at these clinics. Those aged 5-17 are eligible for the Pfizer-BioNTech version of the vaccine only.

*Health Services requires written permission from a parent/legal guardian to administer vaccines to those aged 5-15 and boosters to those aged 12-17. If someone else brings your child to these clinics, complete a consent form to send with them. Forms are available for download at brunswickcountync.gov/vaccines.
