Brunswick County Public Utilities had a discharge of untreated wastewater from a failure of a 2” camlock fitting on an air release valve connected to a Sewer force main near 112 Village Rd. Leland NC. It has been determined that the sanitary sewer discharge began at approximately 7:00 a.m. on November 30, 2022, was isolated at 8:57 a.m. and repaired at 9:10 a.m. the same day. It is believed approximately 4,250 gallons were discharged into a retention pond which has an outfall to a tributary of the Brunswick River. This notice is required by NC General Statutes Article 21 Chapter 143.215.1C(b).
