Washington, D.C. — The Action for Dental Health Act, sponsored by Senators Ted Budd (R-NC) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), has been included in the Bipartisan Primary Care and Health Workforce Act, which recently passed out of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee. The legislation aims to reauthorize and expand a grant program that helps states increase their oral health workforce and provide necessary dental care.

Speaking about the bill, Sen. Budd emphasized the importance of expanding access to oral healthcare at the primary care level. He stated, "Expanding access to oral healthcare at the primary care level is crucial for improving health outcomes through prevention. I’m glad to work across the aisle to pass this bill through the HELP committee and look forward to working with the full Senate to get it across the finish line."

Sen. Booker also expressed his support for the legislation, highlighting the significance of oral health in overall well-being. He said, "Oral health is crucial to one’s overall health, but many people, especially those from underserved communities, lack access to these vital services. This bipartisan legislation takes an important step in addressing our nation’s health disparities and ensuring more people have access to oral health care. I applaud my colleagues on the Senate HELP committee for passing this bill and look forward to a full vote in the Senate."

The Action for Dental Health Act, which aims to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in oral healthcare, has gained bipartisan support. With its inclusion in the Bipartisan Primary Care and Health Workforce Act, the bill is one step closer to becoming law, providing hope for increased access to dental care for communities across the country.
