Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) has announced an upcoming event called Badges of Honor, aimed at helping veterans in North Carolina obtain the military awards and medals they may have earned but never received during their military service. The event, organized by Congressman Rouzer, is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2023, at the VFW Post 10630 in Hope Mills, North Carolina.
Obtaining military awards and medals is not always a straightforward process for veterans. In many cases, they must apply to receive their medals or replace lost or damaged ones. The establishment of new awards and amendments to existing ones often make the process daunting for veterans and their families.
Congressman Rouzer expressed his intentions with the event, stating, "This Badges of Honor event will help NC-07 veterans, and their loved ones, complete the paperwork necessary to request or replace their hard-earned service medals. More can and should be done to improve the care and lives of our veterans, and this includes helping them receive the proper recognition they deserve for so nobly serving our country."
On November 9, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Congressman Rouzer's staff will be present at VFW Post 10630 to assist veterans in completing the required paperwork for requesting service medals. Veterans interested in obtaining medals are encouraged to bring their DD214 or contact Lisa Littler in Congressman Rouzer's office to determine the specific documentation needed. The event also welcomes children and spouses of veterans who seek to obtain the service medals of their loved ones.
It is important to note that Congressman Rouzer's office can only assist veterans and military families residing in North Carolina's Seventh Congressional District. Those outside the district are advised to contact their respective United States Representative for assistance.
Due to limited space, interested participants are requested to RSVP for the event. For further information, individuals can contact Congressman Rouzer's office by phone at (910) 500-4880.
This initiative by Congressman Rouzer highlights the significance of honoring and recognizing the sacrifices made by veterans. By simplifying the process of obtaining military awards and medals, the Badges of Honor event aims to ensure that veterans and their families receive the proper recognition they deserve for their service to the country.
