WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) and Congressman Rich McCormick (GA-06) have introduced the Protecting Resources Of Taxpayers to Eliminate Childhood Transgender Surgeries (PROTECTS) Act. The legislation aims to prohibit federal funds from being used to provide gender transition procedures to minors.

Rouzer emphasizes the potential harm of gender-altering surgeries for minors, stating, "Gender altering surgeries for minors can result in permanent, irreversible damage and not a single taxpayer dollar should be used to fund them." He adds that the PROTECTS Act is essential for ensuring the safety of children by preventing federal funding for these experimental procedures.

McCormick, a cosponsor of the legislation, highlights the lack of cognitive development in minors and asserts that the federal government should not be involved in funding life-altering decisions for children. He believes that the PROTECTS Act is a crucial first step in addressing this fundamental problem.
