Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) has announced that submissions are now being accepted for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Speaking about the competition, Congressman Rouzer expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "The Congressional Art Competition is a true showcase of the outstanding young artists in North Carolina and across the country." He added, "Every year, I am impressed by the talented students from across our region who participate. I'm proud to once again host this year's competition to provide one of our impressive artists from the Seventh District the opportunity to have their artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol building for thousands to see."

The Congressional Art Competition, sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives since 1982, aims to recognize and encourage artistic talent among high school students nationwide. Open to all high school students (9-12th grade) residing in North Carolina's Seventh District, the competition offers the winning artist the opportunity to have their work showcased in the Cannon Tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol.

The first-place winner of the competition will also receive airfare for two to Washington, DC, where they can view their artwork, connect with other winners from across the country, and participate in a celebratory reception honoring their achievement. Guidelines and regulations for participation, as well as the student release form, can be found on Congressman Rouzer's website.

Students interested in participating must submit their artwork and signed release forms in person to one of Congressman Rouzer's District Office locations by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 19, 2024. For more information on the Congressional Art Competition, individuals can visit Congressman Rouzer's website or contact Lisa Myers at Melissa.Myers@mail.house.gov or (910) 253-6111.
