Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) passionately defended the importance of the F-15E Strike Eagle during today's Senate Armed Services Committee hearing with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General C.Q. Brown. General Brown himself acknowledged the significance of the aircraft, stating, “The F-15E Strike Eagle is a very capable platform.”

Senator Budd expressed his concerns about the Air Force's decision to divest 26 F-15E Strike Eagles from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina. In his statement, Senator Budd highlighted the potential consequences of reducing these aircraft numbers while purchasing fewer F-15EXs and F-35s. He emphasized the urgency of the situation by pointing out China's rapid expansion of its Air Force, stating, “I’m seriously concerned about the growing fighter gap.”

The discussion during the hearing shed light on the critical role that the F-15E Strike Eagle plays in maintaining the United States' strength and capabilities around the world. Senator Budd's efforts to advocate for the preservation of these aircraft in North Carolina reflect his commitment to national security and military readiness.
