WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) recently participated in the Congressional Escort Committee for the Joint Session of Congress with His Excellency Kishida Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan. During the event, Rouzer, alongside House and Senate colleagues, escorted Prime Minister Kishida into the House Chamber and engaged in a meet and greet with him before his address.

"The U.S.-Japan alliance is strong in North Carolina, including in the Cape Fear Region where Japanese investments create jobs, help expand our national energy security, and contribute to the economic well-being of our farm families," emphasized Congressman Rouzer. He further expressed pride in welcoming Prime Minister Kishida to the U.S. Capitol, highlighting the significance of a robust U.S.-Japan Alliance in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific. Congressman Rouzer stressed the critical need for continued cooperation between the two countries to uphold liberty and prosperity in the face of global instability.

In his role as a Member of the House Committee on Agriculture, Congressman Rouzer actively supports initiatives like the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement to facilitate greater access for North Carolina farm families to the Japanese market, thereby strengthening farm revenues.

Additionally, Congressman Rouzer was accompanied to the Joint Address by a representative from Japan Tobacco International, a key player with substantial investments in North Carolina's agriculture and manufacturing sectors. Japanese companies have a long-standing presence in North Carolina, with approximately 225 companies operating across 500 locations, making Japan the largest foreign investor in the state's economy and communities. Notably, NC State University's NC Japan Center plays a vital role in fostering business connections, enhancing academic partnerships, and deepening understanding of Japan's impact on North Carolina.

This collaborative engagement underscores the enduring ties between North Carolina and Japan, further solidifying the bilateral relationship for mutual prosperity and growth.
