Washington, D.C. — Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) has led the majority of the North Carolina congressional delegation in expressing support for North Carolina’s bid to host the 2027 World Military Games.

In a letter addressed to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, the North Carolina Congressional Delegation stated, "Dear Secretary Austin, We write to you today expressing our support and requesting your initiation of the bid process of hosting the World Military Summer Games during the summer of 2027 in the great state of North Carolina."

Highlighting the significance of hosting the World Military Games, the delegation emphasized, "We believe this is a critical time for our country to host these games to showcase our values as well as invite foreign nations to experience American excellence on and off the field of play."

The delegation also pointed out the suitability of North Carolina as a host, stating, "North Carolina is strategically suited to host the WMG with our plentiful sporting venues, colleges, and transportation infrastructure."

Expressing enthusiasm for the potential bid, the delegation concluded, "We are excited at the prospect of the United States and the state of North Carolina bidding on the 2027 WMG."

The letter was signed by a significant number of North Carolina representatives, including U.S. Senator Thom Tillis and several members of the House of Representatives.

The bid to host the 2027 World Military Games in North Carolina is seen as an opportunity to showcase American values and provide a platform for military athletes to demonstrate their talents on an international stage.
