Senator Ted Budd of North Carolina has issued a statement following an operational briefing on the impact of Tropical Storm Helene. The briefing was conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), North Carolina Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and the American Red Cross.
Senator Budd commented on the situation:
“My team and I just got off a call with FEMA, North Carolina Emergency Management, National Weather Service, and the American Red Cross."
He described the damage in Western North Carolina as "catastrophic" and acknowledged that recovery efforts will be extensive. "There is no doubt that the road to recovery will be long and difficult, but we will marshal all available resources to assist the region, including public, private, and charitable. We are all in this together," he said.
Senator Budd expressed gratitude towards various organizations for their prompt response: “I want to thank the National Guard, the Red Cross, state and local emergency personnel, and countless others for their swift assistance in helping the people of Western NC.”
