The Wilmington City Council will convene for a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. inside Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 102 North Third Street.
Among the items to be discussed are:
- A proclamation designating July as Park and Recreation Month.
- The award of two debris monitoring and recovery contracts. These contracts establish a primary and secondary on-call contractor to provide services in the event of a hurricane or other disaster requiring extensive debris removal in the city. This measure allows cleanup to begin immediately and ensures compliance with FEMA guidelines, essential for FEMA reimbursement. If approved, the contracts will have a three-year term with an option to negotiate and renew for an additional two years.
- An ordinance to appropriate an additional $485,566 toward construction costs for the RiverLights Fire Station. The funding is needed due to unexpected conflicts with private underground utility lines and corresponding site access issues. Once completed later this year, the new station will serve Riverlights, the southern portion of Independence Boulevard, and Echo Farms.
- A change order and associated funding to address remaining work items at the future nCino Sports Complex. The $900,000 appropriation will cover landscape and irrigation modifications, additional soil removal (as the site is atop an old landfill), and an extended timeline for the general contractor. The facility is slated for completion later this summer.
- The second and final vote on the recommended budget for FY25. The FY25 budget goes into effect on July 1.
