Brunswick County Public Housing Authority Offers Upcoming Information Session for Property Owners Interested in Becoming Section 8 Landlords

Housing

Brunswick County Public Housing Authority (BCPHA) is hosting a free information session for property owners interested in becoming landlords for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program on June 23, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Landlord Outreach Event will take place in the Department of Social Services building in Bolivia.

The HCV program was created by the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The HVC Program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.

As a property owner interested in assisting these efforts, you have a unique chance in providing housing for vulnerable members of our community. The BCPHA would like to invite you to this information session and answer some of the questions you may have. Questions that will be covered include but are not limited to:

  1. Are my payments going to be late?
  2. Do I choose my tenant?
  3. What happens if there is a lease violation?
  4. Will I be able to ask for rent increases?
To RSVP for the session or for additional questions, contact Brunswick County Public Housing Supervisor Brandi Herder at 910.253.2130 or email brandi.herder@brunswickcountync.gov
